beautiful.

So glad that we were able to see this beautiful rainbow tonight..
my pictures hardly do it justice.

Aidan was super excited about it, and so was I!
I couldn't get a decent picture of the whole thing, but it was a complete rainbow :)

We hung around outside for quite a bit tonight, and Aidan actually WANTED his picture taken.. that is pretty rare around here.. glad I caught a good one of him & Daddy!

trick or treat

Okay, I know it's kinda early for this.. but every year at the campground there is an early Halloween celebration for the kids. Aidan was super excited to dress up, he picked his costume out himself!

Quite possibly the cutest shark I have ever seen! :)

'lil fish!

We FINALLY got around & signed up for swimming lessons for Aidan!

Aidan wasn't quite sure about getting into the water much over the summer, so I enrolled us in a "getting used to the water" beginner class.. turns out, he just needed to see other little kids in the pool & he was ready to SWIM!

I had so much fun with him & can't wait for our next weekly session! :)

Tot School- Letter M!

Tot School

We're back!

We basically took the entire summer off from Tot School.. but that doesn't mean that we stopped learning.. Aidan is eager to explore everything these days, so we enjoyed the taking a break :)

Aidan was excited when he saw that we were going to continue learning about the alphabet.. picking up where we left off..

..Letter M for monkeys!

Aidan LOVES using a glue stick still, so I had to print out the letter collage for him.

Next up.. making muffins

Aidan LOVES to help in the kitchen, so he was all over this activity!

Yummy chocolate chip muffins!

We got out the markers next, and Aidan had fun coloring & eventually drawing on himself..

..so we moved on to something different.. making monsters!

I found these at Michael's, Aidan loves stickers, so we spent a bunch of time making different monsters!

I also found some marbles at Michael's as well.. I never would have guessed that he would have so much fun playing with marbles.. he was entertained for hours!

His favorite thing to do with them, was to "race" them down his car ramp.. we had so much fun with them together :)

Since Mommy is on her iPod all of the time, I had to download some games to it for Aidan! I found a super cute matching game, and he has it completely mastered!

Still looking for some other apps for him,
so if anyone knows of any cute ones, let me know! :)

We had a fun week & look forward to reading about what everyone else has been up to!

5QF

1. Do you feel guilty spending money on yourself? Yeah, sometimes I do.. especially if the purchase is unnecessary!

2. How well do you know your neighbors? Our only neighbors are across the street from us, so we don't see each other that regularly.. but we do chat about once a month or so! It is always nice to catch up with them though. :)

3. What age are you looking forward to being? I think I am already at the age that I was looking forward to being. I have a wonderful family & son, both of my parents are alive & well.. and life is good! If I sit & think about getting older for too long.. I get sad, knowing that my parents will eventually pass away, that Aidan WILL grow up & not be my baby anymore and I will get pretty old & wrinkly too! :)

4. Do you get excited when the mail comes? I love to get mail! So yeah, I get excited. Although, I do subscribe to WAY too many magazines!

5. What is your earliest childhood memory? Picking blackberries (?) with my mom at our old white house.. I think I was 2??

tiny talk tuesday

Had an interesting lunch today..

Aidan; "Look, Mama! My strawberries are taking a bath in my soup!"

Yep.. they sure are!

I figured his lunch would be a complete waste.. but he ate most of it! :)

our sunflowers..

I have always wanted to plant sunflowers, just never really got around to it I guess.. this past spring though, Aidan threw a sunflower seed packet in the grocery cart while we were picking out our seeds for the garden..
it was so fun to watch them grow with him this summer!

I NEVER thought they would get this tall though!

They are HUGE!!

I love them & can't wait to harvest the seeds from them for the birds.. Aidan is SO proud of his flowers!

5 Question Friday!

I can't believe it's September already! I am quite happy about it though.. I have the widows open & can feel the nice cool breeze.. finally!

Here's this week's Five Question Friday:

1. What do you do when you have time to yourself? Honestly? I do absolutely nothing. I like to just sit & do nothing sometimes.. I read a book or magazine, or sometimes even take a nap too :)

2. When you look out your kitchen window, what do you see? I see our backyard.. Aidan's playhouse & sandbox.. and our huge black walnut tree that Aidan has been fascinated with lately.. it's fun for him to throw the walnuts everywhere :)

3. Who/what would you want to be reincarnated as? While I don't believe in reincarnation, this is for fun, so.. remember how I said I like to do nothing?.. I would be a perfect cat! Sleep, eat, repeat.. yep, I can handle that.

4. What is your biggest pet peeve about other people's kids? I cannot stand to see a child disrespect their parents.. especially in public.

5. Regular or Diet soda? Honestly, I don't care.. I just love carbonation, so I'll take any kind!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

9/2/10

new 'do

I have to admit, I do NOT like Aidan's new haircut.. but, it was getting ridiculously long & we had to do something about it.

You see, Aidan is terrified of haircuts. He screams at the mention of going to get a trim.. so, we figured he'd be okay with us cutting it at home. WRONG.

This was such a horrible experience for all of us, it's not easy to cut hair on a screaming child! Now that it's done, Aidan could care less.. I can't wait for it to grow back!

What in the world are we supposed to do??
..as you can see.. we are NOT good hairstylists! :)

alpacas!

Last week, our playgroup took a fun trip to the Wonder Why Alpaca Farm.. it was definitely interesting!
Aidan was very excited about the alpacas.. I had NO idea what to expect..

Alpacas are a 'cousin' of llamas, but I think they are MUCH cuter! They were very docile, and loved the attention from all the kids. I was surprised that Aidan wanted to participate in the feeding.. they sure weren't shy about snatching the food from your hands! :)

We also got the chance to see angora bunnies, and silver turkeys.. two things I have never seen before, the bunnies were SO soft!

After our time with the animals, all of the kids had the opportunity to make a felted placemat from alpaca wool (surrey).
It was so interesting to learn about all of the different types of fibers & crafts that you can make from them.. the owner (our guide) was very passionate about her craft, and her alpacas!

Aidan wasn't too sure about this craft after he picked out the wool he wanted..

..so, Mommy got him started! He had fun rolling it out & flattening (pounding!) the piece as hard as he could..

Here's the finished product! Aidan was so proud.

We had a great time & BOTH learned a lot! :)
