Another week has gone by, where in the heck does the time go??

I am so excited for this Sunday, as we are leaving for a week-long vacation! We'll be going to up north to Glen Arbor.. and I am excited to finally take Aidan to a real beach! :)

I haven't forgotten about it, so here's this week's questions!

1. Did you have a favorite toy or blanket as a kid? If so, do you still have it?
Yep, I still have them.. they are my Thundercats action figures from the 80's.. and I remember playing with them all the time when I was little!
Watching the cartoon was my favorite thing to do too!

I have no idea why I kept them.. but I was rearranging things in a closet about a year ago & Aidan was peeking through the boxes..
once he saw them, he had to have them!

Funny thing is, (man, I am a geek!) I also have the old cartoon series on DVD, and Aidan LOVES to watch it! Sometimes, he'll randomly run through the house screaming, "Thundercats.. Ho!!!" :)

2. Do you dream in color? I don't think so..
I hardly ever remember my dreams if I have them anyways.

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller? I am 5'3"
.. and I love it, not too short, not too tall!

4. If you could have anyone's voice (celeb or other) as the guide on your GPS, who would it be? GPS?? Um, yeah.. I have not evolved that far yet.

5. Do you return your cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot? I always return it to the corral, I hate it when people leave it wherever.. and I always see carts rolling free in the parking lot, looking for cars to hit :(

Hope you have a great weekend!

no comment!

Apparently, going to the grocery store with Daddy has its perks.. you get super cool dress up clothes!

Oh Aidan, you look like the cutest nerd playing around in your new gear! :)

5 Question Friday!

1. What were your school colors? I went to Parchment, so mine were maroon & gold.. BUT they have changed over the years,
and are now maroon & white.

2. What's the best compliment you have ever received?
I remember this so vividly, because it completely made my day!
Back in 2004 or so.. it was late one night & I rushed to the store for
milk for the next morning. As I was leaving the store,
a guy came up to me & said "I don't want to freak you out or anything,
but I just wanted you to know that you have such amazing natural beauty."I was practically in my pajamas & my hair was all messy..
so I left the store with a huge smile on my face :)

3. Do you buy cheap or expensive toilet paper?
I have tried cheap,
and I will never go back to purchasing it again!

4. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you?
Why yes, I have!
I never thought that anyone would go to the trouble of planning a
surprise for me, but my mom did for my 30th birthday.
She surprised me with a pedicure party.. thanks mom! :)

5. What is one material possession that you can't live without?

Right now, I would have to say it's my iPod.. I love this thing,
love all the apps & all that nerdy stuff.
I love that I can check my email & roam around on the internet on it,
without leaving my favorite chair in the living room too!

tractor show!

Last weekend, Tony & I took Aidan to his first tractor show!

I thought it was rather ironic, as my parents used to take my
step-sisters & I to these things when we were younger..
and we HATED them!
I think that back then I swore that I would never put my own child
through the torture of going to one.. well, look at me now..
excited to take Aidan to a tractor show,
because I know he would love it! ..and he did!! :)

Anyways, the show was at Scotts Mill Park, it is so beautiful there!
I especially loved seeing the old mill, and water wheel..

Aidan loved watching & listening to all the water too!

We had a good time walking around to each tractor..
here's Aidan's favorites:

LOVES the big tractor wheels!

We saw a bunch of steam engines,
Aidan wasn't too sure about them though..

..he prefers the good 'ol John Deere tractors!

The smile on Aidan's face that day made the whole trip worth it,
this boy loves tractors! :)

5 Question Friday!

It's been awhile, but I am ready today! Here we go!

1. Do you collect anything? Why yes, I do!
Well, I did.. before we had Aidan.
To seal the deal on me being a complete geek.. I collect stamps.
Not just any stamps, they have to be U.S. stamps, in mint condition..
never been mailed!

I have a ton of United States stamps,
going all the way back to the early 1900's..and I love them.
It's like a little piece of artwork to me,
and I hope to get back into collecting again someday.

The stamps below are my favorite mint set that I have,
it's called Flags 24/7.
The artist painted the same flag at different times of the day,
I think they're gorgeous! :)

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.

1. Jake Gyllenhaal.. c'mon, look at him, he's beautiful!

2. Edward Norton.. I love Edward Norton :)

3. Taylor Lautner.. I know this guy's kinda young,
but I think he is going to be a hugely successful actor..
not to mention, he is adorable, and in the Twilight movies :)

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind them? The only one I can think of is my c-section scar..
and that's from (duh) Aidan.

4. What is a food you like to eat, but others may think is gross or weird?

Gerber meat sticks.
I could eat these for days!
I have NO idea what turned me on to them,
but my friend Michelle & I would eat these up all the time!

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life? Nope..
but I do remember hiding under a dining room table with my Grandma
during the big Kalamazoo tornado of 1980! :)

tiny talk tuesday

Aidan has been running around the house lately, chasing "monsters"
& pretending to fly...

So, Mommy took an old bath towel & made a
makeshift cape for her little super hero..

After tying it around his neck, Aidan took off saying "Uper Ayan!" ("Super Aidan!")

Happy 4th!

Camping with family is our new tradition for the fourth of July..
and we had a great time over the long weekend!

I only wish that I would have taken more pictures!

Aidan had tons of fun playing with his cousins & it was hard to keep him away from the playground..

..and the pool!
Aidan had a blast in the water!

He was also really excited to watch the fireworks this year, which was a surprise to me, since the previous years weren't received as well.

Here we are waiting for the fireworks to start!

Uh oh.. Aidan still doesn't like them!
He covered his eyes & wouldn't watch any of them!

Grammie took him back to the camper so Tony & I could watch the rest of the fireworks.. thanks Grammie! :)

Aidan did get to try his first s'more that night though!

He loved it & was a super sticky mess :)

Yum!

tiny talk tuesday

Aidan is talking constantly now & I found the perfect blog carnival to join in on..
so, hopefully I'll have some new wisdom from Aidan to share with you each week! :)

We had to make a trip downtown this afternoon, and happened to be parked right by Tommy's Goodie Shoppe, a HUGE retro candy store.
(Aidan's dream come true!)

Mommy was in a good mood, so we went in.. Aidan was overjoyed filling up his basket with penny candy.. when I noticed that he kept going back to get more & more of the same items.. I asked what he was doing...

He said, "One for Aidan, one for Daddy, one for Mommy
& one more for Aidan!"

Clever kid! :)

Tot School- Letter L!

Tot School

I know it has been awhile since I posted anything tot-school related.. but it doesn't mean that we haven't been doing anything!
Aidan hasn't really been into any kind of structured activities lately, mainly because it has been beautiful outside & he just wants to PLAY!

Here's what we have done for the past few weeks with the letter L,
and a few 4th of July activities too!

Aidan put letter stickers on his L for his alphabet book..

He loved matching lids to the glass jars,
and was having a great time with this activity!

Aidan wanted to continue playing with the jars,
so he made some music for Mommy :)

We went on a walk, collected leaves &
talked about the different shapes & sizes of them.
Then, we played a matching game with all of the leaves we collected.

For the week before the 4th, I thought it would be fun to do some holiday activities.. Aidan loved them!

We printed out some cute patriotic paper airplanes & had fun flying them..

We made firework paintings from here,

Aidan had a blast with the glitter, it was everywhere!

He was very proud of his artwork!

We also made a cute shirt that was inspired by this..

I know that using bleach isn't very kid friendly, but Aidan was very aware that he could only squirt the special water on the shirt, he LOVES squirt bottles!

Since he loves squirting so much, he went a little overboard with the bleach.. you'll see in a minute :)

Mommy made the flag stencil & Aidan placed the stars where he wanted on the flag. Aidan had such a great time with this, and is asking to make more! ..it turned out super cute :)

We made some 4th of July painted flowers from here,

and gave them to Grammie!
Aidan had fun painting with the watercolors.

..and here's the finished shirt! He was wearing it proudly over the weekend..

hope you had a great 4th of July! :)
